MUSIC ON WORDS presents an insightful, original collection of thoughtful songs, rich in imagery, encompassed by the melodious voice and instrumentation of Mason Bailey. This debut CD was recorded in Mercersburg, PA, mastered in Santa Ana, CA and manufactured in Nashville, TN.
Born and raised in Fayette County, West Virginia, Mason began studying piano at the age of 8. He played saxophone throughout his secondary education with the jazz ensemble, concert and marching bands. Mason studied guitar under the tutelage of Charles Smallwood and continued his training of voice, piano, and saxophone at Shepherd University.
Mason Bailey has been at home in a multitude of diverse musical settings: playing an unplugged guitar around an intimate campfire in northern California, drumming the cajón with native families in the Andean forests of Peru, jamming at an Irish pub in Pennsylvania and a biker bar outside of D.C., singing at the SOUNDQUILT Festival in Virginia, playing the Djembe drum at a church which reflects the African American heritage, and performing at charity shows for the LIONS CLUB and NAACP in West Virginia, as well as fundraisers for Brook Lane Mental Health Services in Maryland. A very popular crowd pleaser, Mason performed at two Shepherd University SHEPFEST events. Mason has also played at RELAY FOR LIFE cancer benefits as well as EARTHFEST and GREEN benefits at Shepherd University. Mason's most recent performances, both held in September of 2008, have been at the 33rd annual Country Roads Festival at Hawks Nest State Park in West Virginia and in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charles M. Setzer Masonic Lodge # 693.
Mason Bailey is an honors graduate from Shepherd University with a degree in psychology. He works as a counselor for youth at a residential facility in western Maryland. Mason currently resides in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania with his dog "Mudo".
